“It’s Not Easy Being Green” But it’s worth it!

Have you ever met someone who LOVES a certain color as much as me? ๐Ÿ’š Kermit the frog says, “It’s not easy being green”, but I say, “it’s totally worth it!”

Today I used a green purse, brought my green lunch bag, wore an army green sweater and wore my green (wedding) shoes. Obsessed doesn’t accurately described my passion for the color.

Background: I first liked the color green in elementary school when I forgot to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. Years later, it was an unpopular color, so I wore green to stand out and be different. I got made fun of and people were cruel about it. A new fad came in and everyone was wearing green and pink, which took away my uniqueness. Little did I know, this period of my life made me who I am today.

I’ve become someone who went against the grain and danced to the beat of my own drum because I wasn’t afraid to step out and do something different. When I wear or see the color green, bittersweet emotions flood back through my being.

It’s a tender memory to see my green chucks and think of my wedding day. And all the times it felt good to pursue a dream others thought would be impossible to achieve. While sad memories of getting teased comes back to haunt me.

All in all, green means more to me than just a color…it’s a reminder to be true to myself and don’t let the world try and stop me.

And yes, St. Patrick’s Day is my favorite holiday. ๐Ÿ€
